SECRETARY-GENERAL STRESSES ALLIANCES IN MESSAGE TO GLOBAL COMPACT SUMMIT

Following is the text of UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan’s video message for the Global Compact Summit in Shanghai, China, today, 30 November:

I send warm greetings to all of you attending the Global Compact Summit in China.  I wish I could be there with you.

Our collective mission is crucial:  building alliances for a sustainable global economy.

So let me wish you a most productive meeting over the next two days.  I look forward to hearing about the outcome and discussing it during my own visit to China next month.

Xie xie. Thank you very much.
