SECRETARY-GENERAL APPOINTS JEAN DUSSOURD DEPUTY SPECIAL REPRESENTATIVE IN KOSOVO

The Secretary-General has appointed Jean Dussourd as his Deputy Special Representative in the United Nations Interim Administration Mission in Kosovo (UNMIK).  Mr. Dussourd will head the Police and Justice component (Pillar I) in UNMIK.

Most recently, Mr. Dussourd was an adviser on Crisis Management in the Secr賡riat G诩ral de la D襥nse Nationale, attached to the Office of the Prime Minister of France.  Since 1976, he has served in various capacities in the Ministry of the Interior, including as Director of Personnel and of Police Training.  Mr. Dussourd has served as a Sous-pr襥t in Haute-Normandie, and as Pr襥t in Hautes-Pyr诩es and Pas-de-Calais.  Mr. Dussourd was also President of the Committee for the Organization of the 2003 World Athletic Championships held in Paris.

Mr. Dussourd has a law degree and is a graduate from the Institut d’Etudes Politiques of Paris and from the Ecole Nationale d’Administration (ENA).

Born on 2 January 1948, Mr. Dussourd has four sons and one daughter.
