Vitaly Churkin, Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation, succeeds Ricardo Albert Arias, Permanent Representative of Panama, as President of the Security Council.

Military Staff Committee

Major General Peter Gilchrist ( United Kingdom) succeeds Lieutenant General Nikolay Uvarov ( Russian Federation) as Chairman of the Military Staff Committee.
