Weekly round up of road works in Wiltshire, Gloucestershire, Somerset, Bristol & Devon A36 Limpley Stoke and Monkton Combe The A36 south of Bath will be closed for 12 weeks from Monday 31 March at Limpley Stoke and Monkton Combe while work to stabilise a slope, carriageway reconstruction and reconstruction of a retaining wall is carried out. Signed diversions will be in place:
Light traffic only:
Northbound - Leave the A36 at Beckington to join the A361, at Frome join the A362 to Farrington Gurney. Then either take the A37 to Bristol, or the A367 to Bath.
Southbound - Take the A37 from Bristol and join the A362 at Farrington Gurney. At Warminster take the A36. Or leave Bath on the A367 and join the A362 towards Warminster until reaching the A36. Heavy Goods Vehicles:
Northbound Leave A36 at Warminster to join the A350 north. At Chippenham take the A4 eat until reaching Bath.
Southbound Leave Bath on the A4. At Chippenham join the A350 until reaching Warminster and joining the A36.
M5/M49 AVONMOUTH On the night of Sunday 30th March 2008 Western Power will be replacing worn out insulators on the power lines which span the M5/M49 approach roads at Avonmouth. There will be closures of slip roads. The closures are expected to be in place for a maximum of one hour, possibly less:
1, Closure of the Northbound exit slip road at M5 Junction 18 2, Closure of the Southbound exit slip road at M5 junction 18 3, Closure of the loop from St Brendan's Roundabout to M5/M49 4, Closure of the loop from Portway Roundabout to M5/M49
During the closures, traffic at Avonmouth will be directed North on the A403 coast road to join the M48 and onward to the M4/M5
Traffic wishing to access Avonmouth from the North, East and West (M4/M5) will be pre-warned of the closure and directed to use the M48/A403 route to Avonmouth
Traffic wishing to access Avonmouth from the South (M5) will be advised prior to M5 Junction 19 of the closure and the likely duration. This will give drivers the option of laying up in the services or of following the diversion route to Almondsbury and onto the M4/M48/A403.
M4 Overbridges near Bristol The following motorway overbridges will be closed overnight (21.00 to 05.30) for essential bridge joint repairs, affecting the minor roads which cross the motorway at these points:

A303 Sparkford Roundabout Work to upgrade the street lighting, kerbs and signage at Sparkford roundabout started on 4 March and will continue for approximately 14 weeks. The majority of the work will be carried out on the traffic islands and surrounding hatching, although at times there will be lane closures on the approaches to the roundabout. Work will be carried out on weekdays. Work on this scheme will be removed for the Easter weekend.
A419 Blunsdon Bypass New bypass is under construction near Swindon. There are narrow lanes and a speed limit of 40mph for safety between the Turnpike Roundabout and Castle Eaton.
M48 Severn Bridge A 50mph speed limit is in place on the bridge for safety during on-going maintenance work.
M4 Junctions 14-18. Communications upgrade to install Variable Message Signs. Work on verge and hard shoulder. New signs being lifted into place overnight. Work will be suspended over Easter weekend.
