Water champion hits the road again for Gateshead board meeting

Monday 11:17

The Board of the Consumer Council for Water will be hearing from water companies across the north of England when it meets in public at the Baltic Centre in Gateshead next Tuesday afternoon (7 November).

The meeting will give water companies in the north of England a chance to speak to consumers about their recent activities. It will also provide a first overview of the Consumer Council for Water's research on Using Water Wisely, which gauges consumers' views on saving water.

Dame Yve Buckland, Chair of the Consumer Council for Water, said: "This is an excellent chance for consumers in the North East to see how the Council operates as we consult on our national activities and campaigns on their behalf. Our Northumbria committee also continues to meet around the region and offer consumers a chance to get involved.

Dame Yve added: "Recent debates in the region about water quality, increased consumer debt and sewer flooding have raised the tone of debate. This is an ideal chance to join that debate."

The meeting takes place from 1.15pm to 4pm at the Baltic Centre, South Shore Road, Gateshead NE9 3BA.For further information about the meeting and to request tickets in advance, please contact Steven Harrison, Secretary to the Board by phone on 0121 345 1000 or by e-mail at steven.harrison@ccwater.org.uk
