Note to Editors

Radiation Protection Advisers (RPAs) are appointed by employers to provide expert advice on the measures that are necessary to comply with the Ionising Radiations Regulations 1985 (IRR85) and other health and safety matters connected with the use of ionising radiation. The matters likely to require advice from the RPA are set out in paragraph 75 of Part 1 of the Approved Code of Practice supporting IRR85, 'The protection of persons against ionising radiation arising from any work activity', ISBN 0-11-883838-5. The newsletter is intended to help RPAs keep abreast of the current issues concerning radiation protection and to encourage feedback on those issues.
