FCO Minister comments on Indonesian ferry disaster

Following the ferry incident in Indonesia on Saturday 30 December, Foreign Office Minister, Dr Kim Howells, said:

"I was deeply saddened by news of the ferry disaster off the coast of the Indonesian island of Mandalika between Java and Kalimantan. The full scale of this disaster resulting from the capsizing of the ferry Senopati Nusantara is still being assessed and rescue efforts have been hampered by dreadful weather conditions. I would like to send my condolences and deepest sympathies to the families of all those who have been affected by this terrible tragedy."
