BOLSOVER CASTLE SETS THE STAGE FOR OPEN AIR SHAKESPEARE

485/06/01

Date: Saturday 21 July Time: 7pm Place: The Venus Garden, Bolsover Castle Event: A performance of Much Ado about Nothing by the Lincoln Shakespeare company.

Bolsover Castle''s historic Venus Courtyard - which once inspired the poet Ben Jonson to write Love''s Welcome to Bolsover - will provide the setting for theatre once again when the Lincoln Theatre Company present Much Ado about Nothing on Saturday 21 July.

The company, who last summer performed the first theatrical production to take place in the courtyard since 1634, will present a lively 1950s take on Shakespeare''s classic comedy.

Bolsover Castle General Manager John Coulson said: "The Venus Courtyard, with its secluded walled garden, subtly scented plants and atmosphere of romance and mystery is an ideal setting for Shakespearean theatre."

"I hope people will pack their picnics, and come along and enjoy the production."

Tickets are £7.50, £5 concessions for over 50s, children, and English Heritage members, or £6.50 and £4 concessions for anyone booking before 14 July.
