The Romanian Finance Minister, Mr Georgescu, the Governor of the Romanian Central Bank, Mr Isarescu, and Mr Christophersen today signed a loan agreement between Romania and the European Community. Mr Christophersen welcomed the agreement, which is for an ECU 80 million loan and forms part of a medium-term financial assistance programme being coordinated by the EC Commission on behalf of the Group of 24 industrialized countries working in coordination with international financial agencies. The programme is designed to help place Romania's balance of payments back on a sound footing.
