.Based on data adjusted for working days. For the methodology, see News Releases 47/2000 of 12 April 2000 and 33/2004 of 5 March 2004. For definitions of published sectors see News Release 103/2001 of 3 October 2001.
Retail sale not in stores 52.6 (except for mail orders) and retail sale of second-hand goods 52.5 are not published as separate sectors as they are not required as such by the STS-Regulation. They are however included in the ”non food products” aggregate.
.Euro area: Belgium, Germany, Greece, Spain, France, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Austria, Portugal and Finland.
.Based on data adjusted for working days and seasonal effects. The seasonally adjusted euro area and EU25 series are calculated by aggregating the working day adjusted series from individual Member States and performing an adjustment for seasonal effects on these series. Therefore the European seasonally adjusted figures for total retail trade are based directly on the working day adjusted series coming from the Member States and not on an aggregation of the seasonally adjusted indices from the Member States. The euro area and EU25 seasonally adjusted growth rates might differ from the weighted growth rates of the individual Member States. This procedure also implies that the aggregation of total retail trade is not directly based on the published details (food, non-food).
.Data of previous months have been revised compared to those issued in the News Release 89/2006 of 5 July 2006, when the figures published for May 2006 were +0.8% in the euro area and +2.2% in the EU25 for the annual variations, and -0.6% in the euro area and -0.1% in the EU25 for the monthly variations.
