Future of EU communication policy Press Conference, European Parliament, 15 June

COR/06/67

Brussels, 8 June 2006

Future of EU communication policy Press Conference, European Parliament, 15 June

Michel Delebarre, President of the Committee of the Regions (CoR), Margot Wallström, European Commission Vice-President, and rapporteur Mercedes Bresso, President of Piedmont, Italy and leader of the CoR’s Socialist group, will hold a press conference following the adoption of the Committee’s opinion in response to the Commission’s Plan D (Democracy, Dialogue and Debate) and White Paper on communication policy.

The CoR report states that local and regional authorities, as the tier of government closest to the citizens, should play a much greater role in the development and implementation of EU communication strategy. It also calls for more focus on local and regional media to encourage a decentralised dialogue on Europe that reflects public concerns.

Please note, the meeting room for this conference has changed. It will now take place in Room P1A002.

Date: 15 June 2006 Time: 13.00
