Europe Day The Committee of the Regions opens its doors to the public on Saturday 6 May
As part of the interinstitutional "Open Day", the Committee of the Regions (CoR) will be open to the public on Saturday 6 May from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Visitors will have a chance to learn about the role and work of the CoR, and discover the different regions represented in Brussels. Some 40 European regions will be showcasing their local dishes, folk dancing, music and their tourist attractions and cultural heritage on the ground and fifth floors of 101 rue Belliard.
On the fifth floor (room BEL 52) from 11.30 a.m. to 1 p.m., visitors will be able to discuss (in English, French and Dutch) the future of the European Union, and more specifically the role of the local authorities in European integration, with the first Vice-President of the CoR, Luc Van den Brande (EPP Group). Mr Van den Brande is also a Senator and Member of the Flemish Parliament (BE).
The fifth floor will also be hosting video presentations (in English French and Dutch) on the role and history of the CoR.
Children are also catered for with a "Tour of the Regions" game, with lots of prizes to be won! Every child will be given a Discovery Pass to the regions of Europe, which he can fill in when he visits the information stands and get a present at the end of his journey.
