Online learning for Victorian councillors

Online learning for Victorian councillors

By Staff Writer

Victorian Local Governance Association (VLGA) CEO Rae Perry has announced that the Local Government Leadership and Learning Centre (LGLLC) will deliver online as well as face-to-face learning and development programs in 2008.
This will be in addition to existing candidate and new councillor learning and development, and an expanded governance and leadership skills program to be delivered throughout Australia, the Philippines and Timor Leste.

“ Councillors are even more time poor than others in the wider community. Those living in rural, regional and remote Victoria and Australia are keen to learn, but are often hampered by lack of time. So they will now be able to log onto the internet to fully participate, ” Ms Perry said.
“ We will continue with our face-to-face learning and development programs around Australia.  But in a first in Australia, we will also be offering online programs to those who prefer to learn in their own time and at their own pace.
