MAV president Gross reappointed

By Staff Writer

Municipal Association of Victoria president Dick Gross has been re-elected to the role for a further two years after successfully contesting a general election.

He was elected by the 79 MAV representatives who comprise State Council, the governing body of the Association.

Cr Gross said he was pleased to get on with the job and he was passionate about “the MAV’s continued work with the State Government to improve behavioural standards through the establishment of a councillor tribunal; the first ever formal Victorian State-Local Government Agreement; and a commitment to review councillor allowances”.

“An innovative reform agenda led by the MAV is also using regional collaboration and economies of scale to reduce council costs in a range of areas, and work is progressing to implement changes to improve local government’s efficiency, transparency and accountability," he said.

Victorian councils also voted to elect five regional MAV board representatives who will join the seven board members elected unopposed earlier this month.
